So I have been quite rubbish at blogging, commenting on blogs, but also knitting, and sewing and nearly everything actually. I have actually done nothing, that is because this little one has taken all my energy. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn_oApjwr18ORDAAJ9zGJ4jkMGxv4OMClaPp_06I4uaTrrT6zjwqZcgTmgra1AqtiDDnE6LvnL8aWu_mRS5HstWJOyb9E5oHTbYux0r9OYXfv2MYosPVUbA8t5LHR7E3bmUGo_tZ7GYNU/s1600/babyv2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn_oApjwr18ORDAAJ9zGJ4jkMGxv4OMClaPp_06I4uaTrrT6zjwqZcgTmgra1AqtiDDnE6LvnL8aWu_mRS5HstWJOyb9E5oHTbYux0r9OYXfv2MYosPVUbA8t5LHR7E3bmUGo_tZ7GYNU/s320/babyv2.jpg" width="267" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">It has been quite a rollercoaster relationship between us consisting of many trips to the toilet (all day, who called it morning sickness - probably a man!), a lot of crying (why am I so sick?), a lot of travelling together (work, work and more work), a lot of hiding behind baggy clothes (apparently managed not to be too obvious) and finally the scan today. And here we are, we already know we are about to have a hyperactive kiddo! Do not be fooled by the picture it was impossible to have the baby still for more than 2 seconds. On the plus side, we saw his feet (massive) and his arms (flying around). All of this making me think there is more of M's genes than mine. Not a good sign when I am the one giving birth... Ok let's not even think about this right now. I can be in denial for another 6 months... </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Anyway I will now be able to go back on ravelry and pinterest and get inspired 'publicly'. Cannot wait!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">This is also the last post on this blog as it is nearly time to go other the new blog (you can have a sneak peak by going on <a href="http://www.made-inhome.blogspot.com/">www.made-inhome.blogspot.com</a>) or below.. What do you think guys? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS-tuHi3tw9EpyngE5poxXbRqJwcJsyELeert8IUgGd8VkrJvTLny6rRtyiOz6eOEvHJr-8K7vDgpLZVIS2BzrV3VfYbsfoU27fYaID71s2QN9HkN1NhHc9WcbmQ4MAaUEevASkD8cUzY/s1600/new+blog.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS-tuHi3tw9EpyngE5poxXbRqJwcJsyELeert8IUgGd8VkrJvTLny6rRtyiOz6eOEvHJr-8K7vDgpLZVIS2BzrV3VfYbsfoU27fYaID71s2QN9HkN1NhHc9WcbmQ4MAaUEevASkD8cUzY/s320/new+blog.bmp" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Just to be clear the new blog is not a baby blog. Of course there will be projects for the baby - including redecorating my hobby room into a baby room (not born and already making himself comfortable), and building a shed at the end of the garden to become a hobby room/very tired parents' bedroom.. It would be weird if the baby was not going to make an appearance, but it will still very much be a crafty blog, well when I get my mojo back and stop being sick all the time (can someone tell the baby that I should be glowing by now??)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Of course I am still on twitter (@NoasLibellule) and that is probably the social network I use the most at the moment, follow me to see how we get on with all our projects! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So guys, it is all time to follow me on the new blog... and see how I get on! </span>Nat at Made in Homehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15188146841501354978noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3626690441669314819.post-75315182485045546072012-04-02T16:26:00.000+01:002012-04-02T16:39:18.106+01:00What happened?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Did I fall from the face of the Earth? Euh, non... Still here, been actually tweeting and pinning quite a lot recently - <i>what you are not following me yet @NoasLibellule?? What are you waiting for!</i> I just took a break from sharing on the blog. And to be honest I missed it. I always knew I would be back when I was ready. And I am ... to tell you I am leaving again. <i>What?</i> Yes, I am leaving soon to a brand new space. This blog is going to see its ending, and a brand new spanking one will take its place, with a new mood board. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWSlE7JJ3cSglSyuUdHqOkYb9WxiIzTCoaRFsDB9JgWZOHevNLo_v9mbh-RrzhK7Ombl9384urEqgHTXMwL6kjycVS9eOINXrtEXSeXYEpPsLunkPQVioXa0qJPvF-9o-oRsPcdiIbcc0/s1600/next+steps+MiH.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWSlE7JJ3cSglSyuUdHqOkYb9WxiIzTCoaRFsDB9JgWZOHevNLo_v9mbh-RrzhK7Ombl9384urEqgHTXMwL6kjycVS9eOINXrtEXSeXYEpPsLunkPQVioXa0qJPvF-9o-oRsPcdiIbcc0/s400/next+steps+MiH.bmp" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">You may have seen the MiH board appeared on my pinterest a couple of weeks ago. I am working with a blog designer on the new blog, and I was looking for inspiration for her, so that she could put my vision into a beautiful new blog. SO exciting! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">It will be a sad moment to leave this blog. But it is time to move to something new. The launch is due in May, and from now to then I will share progress with the new blog, review my best and worst projects, what has become of them (do I actually use those things that I made?)... and bid my virtual alter-ego Noas'Libellule farewell. But it will be fun, with more great and exciting projects coming up. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Last week was quite surreal. All good, just a lot to take in. So when it comes to reviewing what has been done, well not a lot. I am still DESPERATELY trying to finish Winnowing - well actually the border, which is so clever. It is taking me forever, and it is literally eating yarn. I am now rewarding myself if I do one repeat of charts B & C every night. Yes, it has come to this - does nayone do it like this for project they are struggling with? I am thinking that I need to re-order some Rowan Kidsilk Aura, nooooo. Everyone who has seen the project in real is impressed, I am on the other hand fed up. </span><br />

I had the same problem, until Lucy 'kindly' told me to turn it off. As it annoys me as well when I want to comment, I did a bit of research and turned it off. I have the embedded comment setting for my comments. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So please, if you are also annoyed to have to give two words to justify you are not a robot - stop your own verification system... It is simple, and here is how you do it.. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<br />
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">If you are still on the old Dashboard Interface, just skip to Step 2. Otherwise, start below at Step 1.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">1. Go to your OVERVIEW page, click on the ‘wrench’ icon (far top right corner of your overview page) and select Old Blogger Interface</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">2. You are back to your old Dashboard, select SETTINGS</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">3. In the SETTINGS tab you have a few sub-tabs, select COMMENTS</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">4. Scroll down, you will find word verification yes or no >>>>>> NO</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">5. SAVE SETTINGS</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">

<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">6. Go back to your DASHBOARD, just above the dashboard box, above the language box, you have 'try the updated Blogger interface'. You are back!! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> The Valentine's Day place mats I mentioned last Wednesday are finally finished! I was not sure about the binding and in the end used the colour of the writing. The pink fabric is from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/summersville?ref=seller_info">Summersville available at Etsy</a>. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> So how did I write the quote on the linen fabric and followed the <a href="http://witandwhistle.com/2012/01/16/diy-stencil-pillow/">Wit and Whistle tutorial.</a> Here is what you need: </span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Linen fabric</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Fabric Marker Pen (Sharpie pen)</span></li>

The aim is to learn a little more about the foodies we follow on Twitter or read about on their blogs. My blog, and especially this blog, is not a 'food blog', but this is such a big part of my life now because of our Britain in our Kitchen challenge that I thought it would be good to enter - on pancake day . As I am finding it increasingly hard to cope with two blogs this is where my entry is!</span>

I find it hard to relate to chefs if I am honest, I love eating their food but for the home... not really. My other Grandma made some amazing cakes, pancakes and the best ever ever macaroni cheese. I am also starting to have some vintage cooking books (I really want the Julia Childs one of course)... And I think the one I bought over the weekend, the Good HouseKeeping's Cookery Compedium first published 1952. For the Britain in our Kitchen challenge it is brilliant because it does everything from scratch with mostly British ingredients - nothing fancy, just very good basics. </span></div>

(Updated!)<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">It is Wednesday, and therefore it is W.I.P. Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">What to report ... I made some progress with <b>my two placemats</b> for Valentine's Day (yes that would be for yesterday... or 14th Feb 2013 as the case may be now). Actually I saw it coming and I did not over do it on the hearts, so we may be able to use them before next year. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I can report NO progress on <b>the shirt patchwork</b> ... so there is no point to talk about it. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I also need to make something out of these <b>fabulous scraps</b> I received from <a href="http://indiannadreams.blogspot.com/">Indianna Dreams</a>. As none of us really had some scraps, we decided to swap some fabric pieces. I was SO excited about it. She chose so well for me - look at all the grey and yellow. Need to put on my thinking cap now... </span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; text-align: center;">FINALLY! It took me AGES to get there... for something that is quite easy in the end... But everyone seems to have a different way to do it. <i>(Sorry for those who came on this post before the updated version, it did not work, it should be fixed now and you can actually have your button...)</i></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihQgQxXSmnB-NcyauPRp_Ju2_l9SB6fUcfsIkW4vbuf3dcIUF3ExC5UVr-BOv5HPEfPetx1mnPFzfT3exVW0xn7uM8IR1pnzzT8DNrexRiVDjO42cDO62MEs9mUDc6TQOFaXSAxSWQ0uU/s1600/button.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihQgQxXSmnB-NcyauPRp_Ju2_l9SB6fUcfsIkW4vbuf3dcIUF3ExC5UVr-BOv5HPEfPetx1mnPFzfT3exVW0xn7uM8IR1pnzzT8DNrexRiVDjO42cDO62MEs9mUDc6TQOFaXSAxSWQ0uU/s1600/button.jpg" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Anyway here are the steps I followed (a mix of different helpful blogger suggestions):</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">1. Choose your picture (I used my banner one... made sense right). I edited the picture with Picnik. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">2. I resized it to 125x 150 (should not be bigger than 150 to make sure it fits on other bloggers side bars)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">3. Upload the picture to an online photo gallery service. I tried through Picasa, but my picture never appeared in the end (if someone managed to resolve that problem, please let me know). So I used <a href="http://s1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg493/NoasLibellule/?action=view&current=button.jpg">Photobucke</a>t in the end - it is free and very fast. You get the HTML of your picture on the right hand-side.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">4.Got to layout in blogger, to the design bar, and add an HTML gadget to the place you want your button to show. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">5. You can add a title ('Grab my button')</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">6. Copy the HTML Code you can find <a href="http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Blog-Button-for-Blogger.Com">here</a>. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">7. </span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 16px;">Paste the above HTML Code into the HTML gadget</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">8. Replace YOUR WEB ADDRESS by your blog address</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">9. Replace BLOG TITLE by a blog title of your choice (mine says Inspirations for Handmade)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">10. Replace the IMAGE HTML ADDRESS by the HTML Code you found on Photobucket</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />

I hope you enjoyed having the guest posts from <a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2012/02/what-blog.html">Lucy</a> at Charm about You, <a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2012/02/my-thoughts-on-blogging-popbabe7.html">Popbabe7</a> and <a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2012/02/what-does-blogging-means-to-me-by-emma.html">Emma</a>. Thank you so much girls for keeping things running in my absence! </span><div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Now what is it all about <b>this randomness </b>(I was not going to start by the winner, right!)? I finally had a chance to see the patchwork/cross-stitch plaid I made my parents two years ago. It is sitting on their couch in the Alps - totally in context obviously. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxoYa5TyduaibYCEVepT8_-_1wJnt4LBPv_ChglACquIKwLO8R9OKi3ad-GPfYh5Ab23H5Tugt9giVdz98odM3uHh_KlYqrDVNZL3Kafoumwv8OvCNRSGWhRZSSKk1PO4K64s_EHAQz3I/s1600/patchwork+skiv2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="315" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxoYa5TyduaibYCEVepT8_-_1wJnt4LBPv_ChglACquIKwLO8R9OKi3ad-GPfYh5Ab23H5Tugt9giVdz98odM3uHh_KlYqrDVNZL3Kafoumwv8OvCNRSGWhRZSSKk1PO4K64s_EHAQz3I/s320/patchwork+skiv2.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So the cross-stitched cow trail (that you can sort of make out at the top left of the plaid) was the original purchase. I bought it with my Mum, oohhh 7 years ago (at least - the shop does not exist anymore), I finished it 2 years and a half ago.. and could have just framed it (It was hard enough to do to deserve it!). But no! Why do simple when you can over-complicate things? I decided that it would look very good on a plaid. It is OK, but the best piece is really that cross-stitch, let's face it... I may have over-complicated things. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Apart from that I also found a picture of me - for those who want to know what I look like. This is totally representative of course.. as I was probably 2 in that picture (a family favourite, everyone has at least 2 in their houses). All I can say is thank you L'Oreal for bringing some natural blond highlights in my life, and thank you straighteners for getting rid of this locks I struggle with every morning. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<br />

<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Finally, <b>the giveaway winner</b>. You remember there was a lovely print from<a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2012/02/it-is-giweaway-time.html"> IOTA Illustration</a> to win ... I decided not to go for random.org as I was concerned that the first or last entries would not get picked. M was slightly worried that the participants who did not win would track him down (I can give you his work address if you want...). Here is the innocent hand... </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Anyway, unfortunately there could be only one winner, and that is</span></div>

<span style="font-size: small;">Hi everyone I'm hijacking Noa's Libellule blog for today! For those of you who don't know me, my blogging ID is Popbabe7 and you can find me <a href="http://themagnificientblogofpopbabe7.blogspot.com/">here</a>. We've been old blogging buddies now, and when she requested me to guest post I felt very privileged as she is just so fabulous!</span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">I have been known to start a blog, write a couple of posts, cringe when re-reading them and then deleting the whole thing altogether, hoping that nobody other than me read it!!! I bet most of us did that didn't we? It is very hard to start a blog, and unless you have a clear idea of what you want to write about this is just going to be a collection of random posts (some people are great at it- I am not!). I felt more at ease when my blog got a "direction" and I started writing about learning to sew and knit. It even got easier when I started my "A Project A Week" in 2011. Overall I did a good job at updating regularly my blog, and blogging has become a bit of a second nature to me now. Even when I haven't been busy myself I try to share my thoughts, and will include pictures that inspire me.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">The best bit about blogging for me is meeting new people. I always get very excited when someone takes the time to leave a comment about one of my posts, and I also love to discover new blogs who will inspire me. Back in December I had my first blogger meet-up and had a fantastic day- highly recommended!! Because sewing and knitting tend to be "solitary" hobbies (unless you join a knitting group) it is lovely to know that there are some people out there sharing the same passion, and willing to pass on some of their wisdom should you get stuck on a project! Did I also mention that the people in the craft community are the nicest people ever?? I have blogged about things that have gone terribly wrong, because I'm quite honest and hoped that maybe I would get some help from crafters more experienced and more talented than me. All I got was kind words of encouragement- which is really good when you are not so confident!!</span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">You also know that people who blog about something are truly interested in it. Is it just me who found myself getting all excited about a knitting pattern/ sewing project only to be met with a blank/ amused stare from my partner/ colleagues? At least on blogs you can oooohh and ahhhh over a finished project without other people being worried for your sanity!</span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Finally I was asked to provide a picture which will sum up my idea of blogging. I am a notoriously bad photographer- <strike>most</strike> some of the pics on my blog are atrocious, so I pinched a picture from Shakespeare and Company, a library in France. I often see the internet as a giant town with all its good and bad things, big shops, small shops, dark areas, luxury quarters and so on. In this town, blogs are little clusters of knowledge and passion, scattered on virtual library shelves.I thought this was the perfect picture to represent my idea of the blogging community.</span></div>

I'm Lucy and I blog at <a href="http://charmaboutyou.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Charm About You</a>.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">

<br />
I'll be taking over this space today so I hope you don't mind!<br />
<br />
I've been asked to share a little about what blogging means to me. I've been thinking about it a lot and it's really hard not to come off cheesy or just end up repeating what countless others say. Nathalie said I could include a picture, which helps because that's sometimes the best way to explain something.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My husband took this picture of my son some time ago, <br />

I blog about my quilting, this is not a sewing related picture and yet I immediately knew that this picture best represents how I feel about blogging.<br />
<br />
There's a sense of exploration; of myself, my creativity, growth, skills and possibilities.<br />
<br />
I feel like blogging is a way of looking out into the world, framing myself in the process. Connecting with others, telling my story, sharing my sewing journey.<br />
<br />
The light is so crucial to this picture and blogging for me has created so much light. I don't have to hark on to people who aren't interested in my sewing, I have a place to share with like minded people, I have encouragement, support and friends. I follow and read so many interesting blogs, I feel inspired every day seeing people's creations, discovering techniques and learning so much from everyone. It's led me to challenge myself, to do things I wouldn't have even considered on my own and to begin to develop my own sewing and writing style.<br />
<br />
There's a dreamy, pensive quality to this picture too. I'm a full time mum and despite the fact I adore what I do there's a longing to fulfill another part of myself - for me quilting and blogging are something I do that's mine. I ponder, I prepare, I sew, I make, I write, I share. Those rays of light are those wonderful cables that link me to all of you!<br />
<i>(I knew this would end up being cheesy)</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
I've been very lucky since I started blogging last year and wanted to help spread some joy (or not!!). I'm having a Fugly Fabric Party over on my blog starting tomorrow, I'd love for you to come and check it out!<br />

And it is <b>GIVEAWAY</b> time! I am so excited guys, I cannot tell you ... It took me a bit of time to figure out what I wanted to be giving away. I thought yarn or fabric (obvious), and then thought that it might be restricting, not everyone reading my blog is into this... back to the drawing board. I also post a lot on what I want to display in my house.. and I thought a print from an Etsy artist would be brilliant, and really in keeping with the blog. <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I wanted a print that represented my vision of blogging - a way to reach out and be connected to a community I would not necessarily be in touch with otherwise. I work in a totally different field, and this is a way to express my own creativity in the evening and share it with like-minded people. I thought <a href="http://www.etsy.com/people/iotaillustration">Ollie's</a> print encapsulated how I feel about this blog. <br /><br />

Yes that big yellow blob is Paris. No I could not bear cutting into it, but I think it is beautiful in new frame (all painted by M - in the freezing garage, bless). We negotiated a bit on what should be included, I am a south bank girl, M wanted to see Montreuil (where his Grandparents lived at some point), I wanted to see St-Germain-des-Pres because we went to a wedding there. However we agreed we wanted the legende on the side, which is the most vintage part. Voila, a much less bland guest room! </span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 356px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvE64Hc474rMtMoSCUktP1rpCSrKQ4fW1RaC7xgCuiT0MbFrtkVFkEa0swUGmRYQXUfpc0fVWWGgYiRBpaQNkBwvY6C80NUJPZVu1Cl2SpNl4QNIw6STMrtK6-71125B8pX6VKpNe4SUY/s400/bathroom+v2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704594916135792226" /> </div><div><span >This is a controversial one to include. I thought that this would be a very good way to review January. </span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span >So let's start by some <b>Awkward moments</b> in January:</span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span >- Going to bed early (earlier than M) and not being able to fall asleep because I am thinking too much of how I should be asleep - like right now (M coming 2 hours later in bed, with me still very much awake). </span></div><div><span >- Having a HUGE row <i>(slamming of doors and tears - French style row) </i>about a coffee machine (yes a coffee machine) in our kitchen because it creates clutter (my argument being that we don't use it, M that we could one day). </span></div><div><span >- Organise the house for M not to notice </span></div><div><span >- Not being able to prioritise nagging tasks and get overwhelmed by it (same day as coffee machine disaster)</span></div><div><span >- Tackling my washing basket, only for tea towels to become blue from the jeans I washed with them - brilliant. Where is my Mum when I need her? </span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span ><b>Awesome moments</b></span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span >- My bank statements are finally filed! and the house looks definitely less cluttered (except for the coffee machine). Has a very big impact on my mood. </span></div><div><span >- I started Pilates to help with my knee (minor injury due to running) and really enjoyed it!</span></div><div><span >- Going on long walks with M - exercise and quality time, total win win. </span></div><div><span >- Finally send documents claiming back some money - shopping here I come</span></div><div><span >- Worked out, at grand age of 33 that yes slicing a task into mini-tasks really helps. </span></div><div><span >- M saying that I have more energy - yeah!! </span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span >February is the month of LOVE!! And there may be an extreme nice week ... More to come at the end of the month! All I can tell you Valentine's Day will be OTT this year! There will be balloons, a themed menu, etc... </span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span >Apart from that, all is set for <b>Friday's GIVEWAY</b> - I actually know what it will be, and I am SO excited about it!! I hope you will be too!! </span></div>Nat at Made in Homehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15188146841501354978noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3626690441669314819.post-3023710090230797912012-01-31T11:05:00.006+00:002012-01-31T12:44:46.281+00:00Finishing and Announcing<span >I have been analysing my granny square blanket A LOT (you know the one I made for the <a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2012/01/defi13-de-la-decoration.html">Janaury Defi'13</a>). And there was something wrong with it. Not an obvious 'wrong' (ie the colours were not wrong), but it did not look finished. And I did not like it. After a bit of blog stalking - one of my favourite pastimes - I came across <a href="http://22rue.canalblog.com/archives/2012/01/13/23194459.html" style="text-align: left; ">Faustine's</a><span style="text-align: left; "> own granny square blanket (made for the same Defi'13) and I could see that she had a really nice finish. The solution was simple she said, the last row is a single crochet row made of a contrasting yarn - of course!</span></span><div><span ><br /></span><div><span ><br /></span><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 306px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlHEf1vRhyphenhyphenCz9uoqjDoDsVKiqDmp66BvQDoHcwHyhAfvx2AKYpl8gsyW6mhqiO_f_A7-BWdHrbvlhPo3XZPrhbXZHVSN1ETZiJ2Iv3ss5XSgZCZtjndfPe0NAIEkfOaMClVN0a6HNN6F0/s400/31+jan+2012+2+v2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703763448741620690" /></div></div><div><span >Once I started, that was it. I knew it was right for the blanket. I had some grey Cocoon left - not a full skein, but just enough for this last row. I really like the effect, it looks like a blanket stitch and really finish off the granny square (so no temptation for me making it even bigger!). </span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0ii3frgkTiOX4d7a8QgYRM-8lHXFdnJiDQAa1Ml4t_UmE16lY_nEcXRGG4MPEzjqdtOsUnxeRRDQrprkkKdJ2Y1qz7La98zdZwZ2BlVvLSaHcygJiRcAEWL75nqBC9gwV4ZHfCW9tS5A/s400/31+jan+2012+3v2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703763450294551570" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); text-decoration: underline; display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 334px; " /></div></div></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span >So guys, what do you do when you know there is something wrong? Do you have a standard solution or do you try to find similar projects on blogs? or do you just give up... </span></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div><span >Anyway, did I mention<b> an announcement</b> in my title? I sure did... I am SO exciting about this. To thank you all for coming to my blog, I will have host my very first <b><span >GIVEAWAY</span></b> whilst we are on holiday. Wednesday, and what do I have to report - basically not a lot... On the positive side, I <span style="text-align: left; ">am making progress with<a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2012/01/happy-to-happier.html"> the Happiness projec</a>t - started running again, my house is getting more organised, I am sort of keeping to the Weight Watchers plan - and we have started our <a href="http://www.britaininourkitchen.blogspot.com/">Britain in our kitchen</a> blog (our 2012 challenge of eating only British food at home). I have also attempted to do some felting - with a varying degree of success (same wool, same temperature, definitely not the same result).</span></span><div style="text-align: left;"><span ><br /></span></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOZI_3F2L4j2hbYFEOaaeS2-cOIaguAcpuVwO3PDlOa2NuaPUVae1dQukc_Cznl7x4MQ8VkMnXPo33F5DUm9QXkq1fIfe_CO8KPAcKiyQjENlPOkhUZfVjGducfDVeFIIm9Z8QqYRcDUc/s400/Felting+disasterv2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5701526273382667394" style="text-align: left;color: rgb(0, 0, 238); text-decoration: underline; display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 312px; height: 400px; " /></div><div><span ><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span >I was hoping to make a pouch out of those but the texture is so different, I may have to rethink this. I played for my local team, and I would watch a lot of tennis on TV. I was keen and in love with Andre Agassi and Stefan Edberg. I am now a Roger Federer and Wilfried Tsonga supporter, and play much less tennis and moved on to squash (it is all about being indoors). Since then I always liked things related to vintage tennis. And vintage tennis rackets is what my house needs (no that doesn't mean more clutter!). Here are 5 reasons why!</span><div><span><br /></span></div><div><b><span>Vintage Display</span></b></div><div><span><br /></span></div><div><span>I love this display from the <a href="http://www.whitcombandcompany.com/Showcase">Whitcomb company</a>, it takes a bit of space but adds interesting colours and forms to any bland wall.<br /></span><div><div><div><span><br /></span><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 325px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL4a87FxBoRyKETpTDzAGiVcpmeif9QhitpWY1bteffnBmHaXwPMxrNUcLk58yAld-tSOIFRuGSYqX00Qkeru9DmIzktFxv1FWRlnuahFJnkwOLAQbjjnDxmG6OYoUOIRV6ynPRtGt7sM/s400/racket+display+design+spongev2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5701149607701967314" /><div><span><br /></span></div><div><b><span>The Vintage Organiser</span></b></div><div><span><br /></span></div><div><span>You know it guys I am on the look out for something to organise my earrings. So when Emma over at </span><a href="http://www.gawgusthings.com/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Gawgus Things</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"> posted about 'The Happiness Project' by Gretchen Rubin, I knew I had to get the book. And so I did!<br /></span><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699711866604832418" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 360px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjibpEXb8Yz7fqFR7_D8ixQIfwJIwLYrUrdKtzn8xixVwicoxuLNBKPpbSMNxsNCdyU44LaHHubSqnqxGrK_EGXWk627AGouEfVgeGDj8IHg2uFAy4-2LMsi4ZajDhzmSfpJINIAz7iV08/s400/The+Happiness+Projectv2.jpg" border="0" /></span></div></div><br /><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">I need to add something straight away. I am a happy, positive person, I am - serious. OK I get grumpy at work and also I nag at home (when the house is not tidy or clean usually). So why am I so into self-help books? It is probably because I think there is more to be done, that time should be really spent purposefully (be it at work or at home). I feel that time should be spent for me and my loved ones rather than for others who do not really care about my well-being. And it is, just not enough... </span></p><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699711879387901314" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 302px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUOpTfiN-MUJ9WA_IVouLTFfXqFXDiiDaWCPjq2rhQyjgcyqDas9PzYg23haEkHhmUxlF3izgP0tuOET2AcJYe7V-SAlZ2q-yeyi3SB0H9StbCN9AJgW2R23pn1-PUobV_uy6pnyTzLNs/s400/contents+page.jpg" border="0" /></span></p><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">So anyway the book in hand, I was off to Paris with the train journey ahead of me. The book is divided by month. So I was not sure how I was going to tackle it. Read a chapter every month, or read the whole thing (I may have different priorities than Gretchen's?). I knew though that I agreed with the January Chapter should be my first task because January is Vitality, and that should make other taxing tasks easier. </span></p><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699711889103627730" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 302px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisB3frup0dNurQFzHPgpJDJEIFUDwHI-0Uz037BRe-eEIYwHt9lJSdRmcFRmfp5fHxiUXDjjjcXC9J7OX7cxi_IjNwejbwWGMvsUqIF6NffBqND7NFILoLW0XmDFm6OF2-yZSau8dlHrk/s400/January.jpg" border="0" /></span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">So 1.'Go to sleep earlier' - should be easy. I take my sleep really seriously (I am sure I mentioned this before) but I really want to make sure I spend time with M as well.</span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">2. Exercise better - I may add eat better. The emotional eating has to stop as well! So I will start weight watchers again and start running regularly again. Yes I will... a whole year of it. bring-it-on. </span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">3. Toss, restore, organise - yes, those bank statements have to find a place in the cupboard under the stairs - actually come to think about it the whole cupboard needs to be organised, as well as the garage... And we still have some bits and pieces in the house to finish (by the </span><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">end of Chapter 1, I basically had a 'big item' to do list of 5 pages)..</span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">4. Tackle a nagging task... Well the problem is prioritising only one. </span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">5. Act more energetic - hmm, I like the theory...now did to make it happen...<br /></span><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">So here we are the basis of my own Happiness project. I think M is soon going to be sick of grey and yellow - I hope you are not yet, because I am hoping to make one more grey and yellow 'thing' for our little room this weekend. </span><br /><br /><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHmIloVjmPcNf51H4Wn9SpookORjcGEp5gPGhbfLThXDCYoFz6ZfURgml-0hJkF0_U_ZyL-j0jV0VoAQYwrA2DNCRWRGaVzSYv4zqyezzFQi-orN1v_I8a_VJJkFU44XPj20k5RspWevo/s1600/sleeve+for+yarn+swift+029+v2.jpg"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698908426524118274" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 270px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHmIloVjmPcNf51H4Wn9SpookORjcGEp5gPGhbfLThXDCYoFz6ZfURgml-0hJkF0_U_ZyL-j0jV0VoAQYwrA2DNCRWRGaVzSYv4zqyezzFQi-orN1v_I8a_VJJkFU44XPj20k5RspWevo/s400/sleeve+for+yarn+swift+029+v2.jpg" border="0" /></span></a></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Let's start by the fact that I love this yellow fabric bought on Etsy </span><a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/stefaniexu"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">at Stefanie's shop</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">. I have a bit of a thing about geometrics as we know, and this is undoutedly my favourite fabric. I love how the top of the sleeve turned out. I was not sure how to end the sleeve as the yarn winder is cylindric. I decided an easy closing method - using strings. It makes it much easier to use. </span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698908412836710994" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 127px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwOaMhyphenhyphenkJOdbct9J2rbMxgzSjumWXID_w2puzv_9x0yHsmgc2ikWJ_jIcCzWAuzH909AxjW0VmXG5fqdX4YczKkXROK-HY4zgASIDfqYbqlv38H0IxMosMkOcgIsMcv2vcBW1DpLlpd-4/s400/Picnik+collagev2.jpg" border="0" />As I mentioned on Monday I made a second cushion cover (well only the top part) which I really did not need (it stayed 6 months untouched - that was clearly a sign, right?). So I cut it (breathing in and out along the way) and rearranged to make a square pattern. The cushion cover was too small for the length of the yarn winder - hence the need for more fabric at the top and bottom. </span></p><br /><p><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698908327627251426" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 176px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifaw6_x5fREMYoMEiMBiU9Y59_CXwp6yYs7q_RCdnYkXPKLaXTOM1ztAMKpkNpnhPN4PmT_CrfhYyAgm9uzdKN3_OWUKXJOTE0v7G7Fic3T_98j63sJ8X_Hb7d6gdMSuObPDz8jrRR2Dw/s400/sleeve+for+yarn+swift+018v2.jpg" border="0" /><br />I was also going to add my fav yellow fabric at the bottom - but hmmm well maybe it was too much. Added some Kona solid banana from </span><a href="http://www.simplysolids.co.uk/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Simply Solids</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"> that I had left from </span><a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2011/06/homemade-wall-hanging.html"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">the Cherry House QAL</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">. Not a lot of quilting involved, a couple of lines at the bottom and at the top between the grey and yellow fabrics to reinforce the change. </span></p><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8RATRnwg4h2SaxTh34G8r2469X1AuccdAR6ayWpbUqCkHMtRK4BZL9x0qQ2pA656_SGk0R4Kbx2sNcfpC4Bsg9Dwr7pR9umCFloNGtEjmqg5odqliUd9S5dUjBIAYxyjHZGu1gtGT22g/s1600/sleeve+for+yarn+swift+023v2.jpg"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698908423346113250" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 269px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8RATRnwg4h2SaxTh34G8r2469X1AuccdAR6ayWpbUqCkHMtRK4BZL9x0qQ2pA656_SGk0R4Kbx2sNcfpC4Bsg9Dwr7pR9umCFloNGtEjmqg5odqliUd9S5dUjBIAYxyjHZGu1gtGT22g/s400/sleeve+for+yarn+swift+023v2.jpg" border="0" /></span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"> <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698908414567847906" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 328px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijX6oNcFo085gQ6621OtQiM0i3fDSpvXJd0RqT2rUzkvjFJc5OR-eYz7cGj4Q3_n0KrzGAf0GsW7xysSlNIA_NL8itK4Xcv4Pg4JHJEi2Sbm2gY7jMdUnWtIEgoBI1OVj-6GC-f2lweXA/s400/sleeve+for+yarn+swift+019+v2.jpg" border="0" /><br />So as we are Wednesday I have finally a chance to link up to </span><a href="http://freshlypieced.blogspot.com/2012/01/wip-wednesday.html"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">WIP Wednesday</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"> over at Freshly Pieced!<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698910032623753762" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 152px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 152px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7iYuruXDqKDn6JIhcP-jgocnswYEx17hU5XlNTrLtNH5c410SMl78IdPqeMuWASLjNhmHwBcn84LQIf28sTgYSkLKxnDe9jKecf3iQBcfS7TKQ5s5bkdJDNOnDRDoMEXHpDnHA96Xpfs/s400/wipwednesdaybutton.gif" border="0" /></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Off to Paris this afternoon, I am hoping to fit in a trip to La Droguerie (totally on the way back to the Eurostar <em>- or not</em>).. Yesterday I finished the sleeve for my new toy and I was going to post about it today - sorted. It meant that I was going to show you some patchwork and not some knitting - to break a bit the routine. It was a brilliant plan. Left my computer to upload the pictures on Picnik (whilst watching Sherlock - such a good episode yesterday!). And this morning I should have been able to edit the pics a bit. But this morning, surprise, none of the pictures of the sleeve were uploaded except one. Thanks to my trusted Blackberry, I can at least show you pictures of my new toy that needed a sleeve for the cold nights.</span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span></div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698181407721240818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 282px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcUch2p_QGFpOlJc0ZFVjNz3zqFvb6XRi2_hUqPF2gYNnYq76a9-p7yoJu5BW0GV1v4vVsmw8oaeMWCldx2ugOjYxhuezbuWQLkEpVVaDKOy_fNaqlGYj_Y7S3JJBREZ2Lfc_NH1CARVs/s400/new+toy+1.jpg" border="0" /><br />Isn't it beautiful? This is my Christmas or birthday present, as all of these things happen at the same time for me, from M - which I thought was amazing. I did mention I wanted a yarn winder, I showed him a couple on internet, explained the difference this would make to my life - yes, I laid it on thick. He clearly took all of these things on board and I got my very own this Christmas. Finished the hours spent in front of the TV making yarn balls.</span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Since receiving my present, I had had a chat with one of my colleagues at work about men and how they (supposedly according to her) buy you things they want for Christmas or birthdays. Let me reassure you, M has NO intention to knit, he looks at me weird when I knit. Not in a bad way, just more in a 'how does that work' way. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;"></span><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">So for the sleeve... well this is the only picture rescued from last night upload. Quite a lot of details, right?! However I can tell you it is based on the same patchwork made for the cushion in the hobby room (as shown in Friday's post).. So I guess more to post tomorrow!<br /></span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698181414012637234" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 288px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaIFG3u1h5fbZBt-VILOqw8aBGiIqIk6o8aNicCp21V1Y6RQytmGKSy6b77l09LD1tewkGMPuL7WPPueKbccoc4-cLj9CTOm5U48kBC03H7cR9qn4xu75AQopDAoMv6z2iHRTGLmpMYeU/s400/sleeve+for+yarn+swift+033v2.jpg" border="0" /><br />Happy Monday guys!</span>Nat at Made in Homehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15188146841501354978noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3626690441669314819.post-89368277248082959602012-01-13T11:36:00.005+00:002012-01-13T13:42:49.097+00:00Defi'13 de la decoration<span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">We are the 13th of the month and it can only mean one thing - it is time to link up to <a href="http://www.defi13.com/">Defi'13</a>! This month we had to make something for your house.. Pretty easy - I had loads of ideas. And I managed to make... one, I suppose at least it is one. This is probably the most simple - yet the most expensive (it literally eats yarn) - crochet pattern. I know now how I can use it in the future! I used 4 different shades of grey and you may remember that yellow yarn from Baby Longlegs I used for that <a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2011/10/swirling-old-gold.html">slouchy hat</a>! The hook was a 5.5 mm. This is the colour scheme of <a href="http://noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2011/07/noas-libellule-painting-bedroom.html?showComment=1319749304344#c4009582366444791744">our bedroom</a> - except that when on the bed, well it just not the right effect. So the grann y square is going to the little room - aka my hobby room with the cushion I made last year. It actually works very well there - so pleased. Would have been really upset if I could not show it off in my house!<br /></span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5697080115242247074" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 342px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiujhbCR1Yvjc935ytYGa5bvyJhxWupJDHBQ-EK2OyYiQi-DqGy-1IsUV20u48heYC8Fu6YCXADGiBadI9joR7uZUvofGFQ_RzWiGmiAwkhbVe_WhakLb2zLHmARc8TH5T0GdsKscyxyK4/s400/Grey+granny+square+008v2.jpg" border="0" /></span></p><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">J'ai parle il y a quelques billets de cela de <a href="http://www.noaslibellule.blogspot.com/2011/12/hesitations.html">mes malheurs avec la laine Cocoon de Rowan </a>- je la trouvais trop lourde et pas facile a travailler. </span><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5697080135157331986" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbJ2OScsyWdVWiRPk6Oes615vOPz_BuwyscRNzeyRJYMJlSKHZBw25JTyD-L9O8PNfJQZUYDfBIIy7bXD7RxBeELjMxbsOtk8-Cc8TL7Cv3xvL1KaBf1_SEA6gt3sdii68KBELiOgm0-o/s400/Grey+granny+square+011v2.jpg" border="0" /></span></p><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">This was a great project for the winter as whilst doing it - in front of the TV (so great after Gingko!) - it was on my lap the whole time, keeping me warm! Brilliant! If you have not done any crochet before, I would definitely recommend this project - it is really easy to do and it grows very quickly (at the beginning). The only problem is at the end, when you need a skein for only one round (hence the expense). As far as the change in colours is concerned, I think at the beginning it was based on a 6 round basis, and then on what I had left... I made a very quick sketch, that I follow quite loosely. Un autre Defi'13 releve!</span></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Another Defi'13 done!</span> </p>Nat at Made in Homehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15188146841501354978noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3626690441669314819.post-40570865452716266212012-01-11T16:48:00.006+00:002012-01-12T11:46:15.394+00:00Resolution<span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">M and I did not make many resolutions this year - I think M made none except the one I will be talking about, and mine are always the same: buy less yarn (failed already), buy less in general (failed as well)... So none of great consequence. But we agreed on one thing - that we will eat 100% British food (and drinks) at home. And what it really means is that we have to cook a lot from scratch (to ensure that it is British flour, British butter etc). We have a couple of exceptions - condiments (we found salt but not pepper yet) to spice up our dishes and products in which the main ingredient (at 95% for instance) is known to be British (e.g. some brands of crisps). We are also still using some of the ingredients bought in 2011 that we have left - cannot bring myself to throw away food!<br /><br /></span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHSh8Ee66Uzc6eocaVc_VNk-T9vpLE4hujYr_GMGOBjcR0qM6eHyB8C1dcX6ThjLHG5NIj6PJKi0Hf6JLGu9hsdC_3eHJacnyyV9_95DLNjBPF_nIvArCCRNGBs75J4d3efAwddtdKxDA/s1600/water+crackers1v2.jpg"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696426556075974626" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 302px; height: 400px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHSh8Ee66Uzc6eocaVc_VNk-T9vpLE4hujYr_GMGOBjcR0qM6eHyB8C1dcX6ThjLHG5NIj6PJKi0Hf6JLGu9hsdC_3eHJacnyyV9_95DLNjBPF_nIvArCCRNGBs75J4d3efAwddtdKxDA/s400/water+crackers1v2.jpg" border="0" /></span></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic;font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;" >Black pepper and linen seeds Water Crackers</span><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">The good thing is that I did not have to stop having cheese! A little googling and testing later we think we have the recipe for homemade water crackers - the original recipe is available </span><a href="http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/7724/sea-salt-water-biscuits"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">here</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">. </span><br /></div><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Ingredients<br /><br />200g plain flour<br />1 tsp baking powder</span><a href="http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/content/knowhow/glossary/baking-powder/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"> </span></a><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">50g butter , cold, cut into cubes </span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">1/2 tsp of table salt<br />flaky sea salt (to garnish, not to add in the dough)</span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">We are using the pasta maker to make the crackers super thin (on setting 6 if you have one) - using that technique you can probably make around 40<br /></span><br /><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696426565450364562" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 312px; height: 400px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5JMXzcTK8De6hbtFRvFkJCeZK4YCEy2irfx1tPg0RQm9dNcrHU8j6kXdg5DndgXW2Fxki2bpnu8qn3vVohE791L_fw3gmvCXBwqqV66Cys8sQY6GnRFb4FjoruKbEwFU_g0e_L8uuGDU/s400/water+crackers3v2.jpg" border="0" /></span></p><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"><em>Cumin seeds version</em></span><br /></div><br /><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Line two baking sheets with parchment. Place the flour, baking powder, butter and ½ tsp of the table salt in your food processor, then whizz for a minute until the butter is completely mixed with the flour. Add some water and work until the dough comes together. You want a soft but not sticky dough. </span></p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">2. Roll out the dough very thin, or use the pasta maker to make thin sheets. </span><br /><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">3. Brush a little water over the surface of the dough, scatter 1 tsp salt flakes over and press in lightly. You can also add pepper or linen seeds (British). Prick the crackers all over with a fork, then cut into squares. Place on the prepared trays - don't worry if they stretch a bit. Bake for 10-15 mins until the biscuits feel dry and sandy but are still pale - they may should be a bit hard. </span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">4. Aouch! Since when did he care? OK our bedroom is full of square patterns (more to come on Friday) - but still ... And NO it did not matter I had been thinking the same thing for a week or so, and been looking at patterns using triangles. I took my 12mm needles, and showed him I could also knit triangles - in the round.<br /><br /></span><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695618590307798722" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 282px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd1aKdcn1ccfEpmW_HxuV6oQKDiVS3t8veVYd78eiX-sOf1RfDZnpq_njAiM3bKVv1KPl3_E8XpxAtwuA5oCCdgg2AI7RtcJEIZAK3M394JPH2NkCKU4K6zMV6UasUvRPRrFwHNK4hqyA/s400/snood+006v2.jpg" border="0" /><br />OK so I had the idea of making a snood for a while now. I saw this one from </span><a href="http://www.plumo.com/products/Wool-snood.html#"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Plumo</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"> and was inspired. I wanted to finally knit that Terria yarn (from Katia) I bought 2 years ago in France, and the pumkin chunky yarn from </span><a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/WharfedaleWoolworks"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Whaferdale Woolworks</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">. All I needed was a pattern - and apparently one featuring triangles.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695619645862370818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 237px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7JQAfdWwQEmGrWvj0fC8JjEZF2gJ3XKuJ_rO9kdDiqkItGEaamGHKr0wLD3VSPa-JFpZ7CkPFKdg_LK2Agr7BAAoSnfsKiLVMNEclT8JROx0hwfguE_lXCE6zJDspVvH55BI6wY5G6mw/s400/Wool_snood1134__66026_std.jpg" border="0" /></span></div><br /><div align="center"><em><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:78%;">Snood from Plumo</span></em></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Whilst perusing Ravelry on Friday, I came accross the Modern Pillow from Veronik Avery - and loved the effect. All I needed was to be able to reproduce a similar pattern on a snood. </span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695618621173835410" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 339px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFgs7010-CA3_lGoDBD_K0omOMcXNzwO3CsNsh_rW5sFEXtRJfE3uPilKab-kOHuYsXNCFkQl_QGA6M8orCyr10RYxIJaQlRbnPvWInwhnYwOK8iYmUFEHRbj_Xkgp3ZMp56Xw9NYHAUA/s400/drawingv2.jpg" border="0" /></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">I cast on 60 stitches (which represents 5 repeats of the triangle pattern). I wanted to achieve that 'oversize' effect of the Plumo snood. I was however a bit restricted as I only had 3 balls of the Katia yarn . I knitted 2 rows in garter stitch and then started the pattern (2 and a half repeat in the end). I finished with a couple of garter stitch rows. Easy-peasy. Except that it is not THAT easy to actually knit with 12mm needles in the round. My fingertips are still suffering. But it is a super quick knit, and well worth the effort! </span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><br /></span></div></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695619043076086226" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 269px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMkFRL9CDhh_6f_BT133VMbOqPHadwvgcA-3HDoL81IuQfdfhin9n9QInmR-FPNdo6RozdrMb7Ft3fgeyVR1cDiRiOowLy0cutnU4FP9mDbLIhpM-4tE1nzvRZMjdV7WRwkqt2ecTaYx4/s400/snood+012v2.jpg" border="0" />I am very pleased with the result. The Katia yarn is OK, it is felted chunky yarn that is a bit stiff to wear - but hopefully this will get better overtime. I would have loved to have a grey yarn similar to the pumpkin one. But I needed to destash, and the colour work effect is really nice. </span><br /><div><br /></div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695618618613629490" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNB60cQH_iV1J9eyWmGUjzomYu4EZsuH-_K4asXJ7v5KAGcnp_-7cDvHHF2SHUTdbCVqMoHwCtT5d_L7hMyHbHkNkR8Yqg3tXAVl0ub3zujgPcCTFwoT4T_qrGEWmHNZmJPUsgX9KGI18/s400/backv2.jpg" border="0" /></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">And it was an opportunity to show you my new jeans shirt (from New Look), and I recommed putting some super red Bourgeois nail polish (it is dry fast one). <br /></span></div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695618607188441378" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 189px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiTbLyX5oNVzMHwJafp2ZOJX2uSf-OVIXgwXi3Gu0PyUOmIfavcydlnSeUyhXkK4_jtLGfSlET5llGwoINGgrHbFkUsWPzPDSGGLkUDSTOKy1OzJ1eOGyeG0sTJUVUzHRo471bkk0DG_k/s400/snood+008v2.jpg" border="0" /></span><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">The new Sherlock serie was on TV...
