Recipe for the weekend - DIY Cake Pops

Hiya guys! It is Friday - Hourray!! But wait I want to talk about cooking today - not a typical topic of mine. and there is a good reason for it, not because I am not a good cook - but just because I never really have the time to make elaborate dishes during the week. But, during the weekend, well let me tell you, I am all for trying something new. And I have been dying to know and try to do these little cakes since the last wedding we went to. At the time, I had to stop myself from eating them all! Really, they are that good.

The bride is now back and I got the recipe - available at Rhubarb and Rose (I also LOVE the blog). And now that I have seen the recipe I just cannot wait to make some over the weekend. I probably tweet about them ( follow me @NoasLibellule) over the weekend.

Aren't they the cutest thing ever? OK, there is a certain amount of pinkiness (not really me) and wedding theme going on here, but I am sure I can adapt the theme to 'date night' for instance (with my travelling, we have not managed a date night this week).

So guys, what will you cook this weekend? Anything special? It is a bit hard with the weather, I thought we were entering the soup season, and it looks like salads are back on the menu! Hope you have a good weekend whether you are, and whatever you are doing!

One year (and a bit) on - in pictures

Hi guys! Happy Wednesday. How are you all doing? Do you remember me telling you about the photoshoot we booked for our first year anniversary (+ 3 months by the time it came round). Yesterday, I received all the photos... SO exciting! Here are my favourites of the couple ones..

I don't usually do what I wear posts - but I will make an exception for this post - although it will be quite poor on the details..

So I am wearing: Jeans: Diesel, Top: Asos Dress changed into a top (by me - email me for more details), Shoes: bought on sale in Leiden (the day before), Jewellery: Noir Jewelry (my obsession of this post), Belt: bought ages ago at Warehouse (I think), and in the first picture leather cropped jacket: Gerard Darel, Pashmina bought in Bangkok airport. Who knows what M is wearing, jeans and a blue shirt??

Just a few words about the location. We did it all in one location - although it does not seem like it. In the North of France you can still find the old coal mines buildings and machines, and we were lucky enough to have access to them for the shoot. This is next to woodlands and a coupd of fields - and next to the Church and the Mairie (town hall) where we got married. All very easy.

Finally the photographer, his name is Benjamin Brolet, he lives in Brussels - and is just brilliant. He covers wedding as well as commercial events. He also travels if your wedding is not in Belgium ... Highly recommended.

Noas' Libellule {13% Mondays}

Hiya Guys... Just come back from a long weekend away with Mr. M. This morning was really hard work for the two of us (3 snoozes on the blackberry-cum-alarm clock). And to be honest, I am still not really awake.

Made me wondered about Monday posts - what would like to work on? Clearly I love remembering the best bit of the weekend, but I need a bit of humour for the week ahead. You will remember my coup de coeur pictures of Mamika by Sacha Goldberger. They make me smile every time I look at them. And this is exactly what I need on Mondays, something to make me smile!

The post is called 13% Mondays, because of this quote:

'I always give 100% at work: 13% Monday, 22% Tuesday, 26% Wednesday, 35% Thursday and 4% Friday'.

The best bit of the weekend is the wedding of friends of ours in the Peak District.

Today's humour is quite topical, and I suppose, only for Harry Potter's fans.

Has not happened to me yet, but it may do!

{ Ideas to steal - edited } Countryside wedding

Hiya guys, happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend.. I certainly did! Last Saturday I attended one of my university friend's wedding in South East London - a true countryside wedding in her parents and grand-parents's gardens (they live next to each other) - bang in the middle of London. They did nearly everything themselves! You can have an amazing wedding on a tight budget...

IDEAS TO STEAL...

1. Custom-made tube station sign (Her brother's wedding present). 2. Wedding stencils. Find stencils at the Stencil Studio. 3. Cake stand made of discarded crates and heart-shaped garland - and yummy carrot cakes of different sizes. Find similar crates @ Hen and Hammock. 4.Lace napking ring. Try McCulloch and Wallis for Cotton Lace trims.

The right card

Is it me or everyone is getting married this year? It is truly great, but after the excitement of another one of our friends getting married come the anxiety of: what to wear, with or without hat, the wedding present and the wedding card.

Yes cards, I really do think hard about the cards to congratulate the happy couple that will be given on the wedding day. I kept all mine, and loved them, and therefore feel that they should be a bit special.

So here are my top 6 cards for weddign celebrations in 2011:

French Wedding FO - my something blue

Four sleeps until the first wedding ceremony (the legal one at the town hall, not to be confused with the Saturday one at the Church...), and I have finally finished the garter I talked about.

Here are some pictures of the work-in-progress. Admittedly they are not the best due to the constraints of my blackberry, but I think they give a good idea of what it looks like.

I used 2mm knitting needles and the Anchor Artiste BABY SOFT Crochet Cotton yarn, I tried with the metallic version and had loads of problems. In the end I did 17 repeats of the pattern - instead of the 22 suggested by the pattern, but it all depends on one's thighs (mine are definetely not small though) and the needles used. I added one more 'track' lace pattern in the middle so that I could achieve the bleu-blanc-rouge effect...

I forgot the ruban that was going to hide the elastic band, so had to improvise with what my Mum had at home. It works but it is not ideal. I had bought a silky ruban matching the colour of the yarn... It is waiting for me in England whilst I am in France - very useful!
