Emergency necklace

Took no time at all, I only had time to take pictures of the T-shirt and the finished product... I followed the pretty penny blog tutorial I talked about yesterday, and within an hour I had a brand new necklace. Result - and one less T-Shirt!

To be honest I was not sure I would like it. It looks nice when others do it, but when it is you suddenly it is not the same - or maybe it is just me! But this time it is as easy as it sounded on the tutorial and it looks good - as in I will wear it, even to work. The T-shirt is a bit browner than what the pictures suggest.

I am really impressed with the result. This is definitely a project I will do again and again!

Home Inspiration 17

Well, less for the home, more for me! And hopefully for all of you reading this post. I suppose this before/after post will also come handy when I will be reviewing my wardrobe (which is apparently going to shrink whilst moving to a bigger house - all for the sake of beds to accomodate my 6'2 husband).



Keira of a pretty penny blog {Real Style Life on a Real Life project} made a superb necklace out of a T-shirt... I know sounds crazy, but look at it, isn't it beautiful?

She was inspired by this video and added her own modifications to the lengths of each newly created tubes. There are a few T-shirt that M could easily do without (if my wardrobe is shrinking so will his!) and I may have some time tomorrow.. Hope to be able to show you something then. Signing up

I have finally done it. I signed up for a quilt-along. Cherry House Quilts is organising a short and easy (will see about that) one in February. You have a choice of different colours, and the shopping list has already been published on her blog! It starts February 2, so there is still time for you to sign up to it. Let me know if you do!!

M has pushed me to get into making more for the new house when we realised that despite our best efforts to soundproof the house we could still hear our neighbour going to the toilet (special!). So it is all about heavy fabrics, a fake brick wall, and a good sound system :)

Home Inspiration 16

You would not believe how many interior design magazines I am reading on a monthly basis - some for the kitchens, others for bathrooms, then there are the ones that are good for colour schemes, or furniture... And obviously there are a lot of blogs out there about design.

Sometimes I find great ideas... And one of those ideas came from Swiss born artist Thomas Boog.

Based in Paris, France, he has made his name in the art and design world through his innovative use of the traditional shell art coquillage.

Thomas Boog utilises the complexity of the coquillage technique, while reinvigorating the tradition with his fresh design aesthetic. His clients include Alberto Pinto, Calvin Tsao, Hermés (Paris and Tokyo), François Pinault and Baron Benjamin de Rothschild.

One of my favourite pieces is this meuble d'appui (Cabinet?)- not sure what the translation is. It has the look of beaten metal work... Brilliant!

Home Inspiration 15

The designer's house was featured in one of the blogs I follow and I fell in love with her designs, her house, basically everything.

Admittedly her style is more for Spring time, but he hand painted cushion covers that Fiona is designing for Bluebellgray are amazing.
She also doing wall hangings ( I really cannot afford this, so I shall just look at the picture).

I am looking at these creations and I feel instantly lifted up!

Latest on the ceramics front

It is really sad, my ceramics teacher has decided to stop doing ceramics full-time, and therefore stop teaching. However she kindly sent me the last objects I did with her. And they are fabulous!

The cracks were not supposed to be there but it is an interesting addition.

I have also received two bowls I made for knitting. It is not easy to explain what they are talking about so here they are..

I love them. Will be really useful (well I am hoping).

Home Inspiration 14

The house project has not gone away whilst I have been on holiday and it is far from being done... Apparently I am moving in a month's time....

OK moving from that thought. Now that we have built our new entrance, I am looking for a rug. It took me two months last time to find one M and I both liked - so let's face it this is not going to be easy. But I have found one... that I LOVE... it is made by Sandrine Alouf, a Belgian artist and photographer.

Well I am having mixed reviews from friends here, so what do you think?
